The Ministry of Land, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development has recently announced new producer prices for strategic agricultural commodities. These prices are expected to provide a fair and sustainable income for farmers while ensuring food security for the nation.

The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) will now pay USD335 per metric ton (MT) for maize, with USD200 in USD and USD135 in Zimbabwean dollars (ZWL) at the interbank rate. The same price will apply to traditional grains.

For millers, the GMB maize and traditional grains price will be USD368 per MT, with USD200 in USD and USD168 in ZWL at the interbank rate. Additionally, the GMB will pay USD580 per MT for soybeans, with USD348 in USD and USD232 in ZWL at the interbank rate.

These new prices were announced by Dr. Masuka, the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development in a joint statement with the Ministry of Finance. The government hopes that these prices will encourage farmers to increase production and contribute to the growth of the agricultural sector.
