Call for Abstracts: 2nd Agric Research and Extension Symposium 2025

Harare, Zimbabwe – The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, in collaboration with the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) and the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS), is excited to announce the 2nd Agriculture Research and Extension Symposium, scheduled for 28-30 May 2025. Researchers, academics, extensionists, and private sector players are invited to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations as well as technology exhibitions.

Under the theme "Transformative Agricultural Technologies Accelerating the Attainment of Vision 2030", the symposium aims to showcase innovative research and technologies that can drive Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector forward. This is a unique opportunity to share your work, collaborate with peers, and contribute to the transformation of agriculture in Zimbabwe.

Thematic Areas for Submission

The symposium will cover a wide range of thematic areas, reflecting the diverse challenges and opportunities in Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector. Abstracts are invited in the following areas:

  1. Crop Breeding, Agronomy, Seed Systems, and Soil Fertility Management

  2. Plant Health and Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

  3. Livestock Nutrition, Animal Breeding, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Resources

  4. Animal Health and Diagnostics

  5. Agro-Ecology, Botany, and Germplasm Conservation

  6. GIS, Remote Sensing, and Climate Modelling

  7. Farming Systems, Extension Methodologies, and Feedback Mechanisms

  8. Research, Extension, and Education Policy Environment

  9. Irrigation Technologies, Soil & Water Conservation, and Farm Mechanization

Submission Guidelines

To participate, please submit an abstract that includes the following:

  • Name and contact details (email address and phone number) of the lead author.

  • Mode of presentation (oral or poster).

  • Thematic area your submission aligns with.

The abstract body should be a single paragraph of no more than 250 words, with 5 keywords, formatted in Times New Roman, font size 12.

  • Deadline for abstract submission21 April 2025

  • Notification of acceptance5 May 2025
