Harare, Zimbabwe — November 6, 2024
Today, TSL and Agricura unveiled a newly upgraded animal health manufacturing plant in Harare, signifying a major step forward for Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector. The USD 600,000 upgrade enables the plant to produce high-quality veterinary medicines targeting common livestock parasites, including roundworms, tapeworms, and liver flukes, with an annual capacity of 240,000 to 360,000 litres.
Honourable Davis Marapira, the Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, officiated the opening ceremony, calling the plant a milestone for Zimbabwe’s livestock sector. "The establishment of this facility is essential for boosting livestock productivity, which underpins our agricultural economy," Hon Marapira stated. He highlighted the plant’s alignment with Zimbabwe’s National Development Strategy and Livestock Recovery and Growth Plan, as it aims to reduce import reliance and save foreign currency.
The plant will contribute significantly to local employment, food security, and rural livelihoods, with ripple effects across supporting industries. TSL/Agricura’s upgraded facility exemplifies Zimbabwe’s commitment to sustainable agricultural growth, veterinary innovation, and economic resilience.
This landmark development strengthens the nation’s livestock sector and reinforces its role as a key driver of socio-economic stability for Zimbabwe.
